Just believe, you Muggle!

We love surveys about which CONSPIRACY THEORIES Americans believe . . . mostly because they make it clear we live in a country that’s INSANELY SUSPICIOUS and just a little bit NUTS.

Public Policy Polling just released the results of a new survey where they asked Americans to weigh in on whether they believe a bunch of different possible conspiracy theories. Here are the top five Americans believe in . . .

#1.) 51% believe Lee Harvey Oswald did NOT act alone in killing JFK, and that it was part of a larger conspiracy.

#2.) 44% believe President Bush intentionally misled the American public about whether Iraq had WMDs leading up to the Iraq War.

#3.) 37% believe global warming is a hoax.

#4.) 29% believe in aliens.

#5.) It’s a tie: 28% of us believe there’s a secret group of elites who are conspiring to take over the world . . .

–And 28% believe Saddam Hussein was involved in the 9/11 attacks.

–Here are the five conspiracy theories with the LEAST support . . .

#1.) Only 4% believe there are, quote, “shape-shifting reptilian people” who have taken human form, gotten elected to political office, and now run the world.

#2.) A tie: 5% believe the exhaust from airplanes really contains chemicals used by the government for, quote, “sinister purposes.”

–And 5% believe PAUL MCCARTNEY was really killed in a car accident in 1966, and was replaced by a look-alike.

#4.) 6% believe Osama Bin Laden is still alive.

#5.) And 7% believe the moon landing was faked.

–By the way, ALL of those got fewer votes than the 11% who believe the government knew about 9/11 in advance and allowed it to happen . . . and the 13% who believe that PRESIDENT OBAMA is actually the ANTICHRIST.
