Could This Be True?

I really hope this is not true because then I have to add him to my enemies list.

US Weekly claims Matt Lauer was personally responsible for NBC’s decision not to hire three female producers for Today. According to sources, following Ann Curry’s June exit, NBC execs picked three women to oversee the show, but Lauer nixed the idea. Said an insider, “He told a senior staffer the idea of these women running the show reminded him of Lilith Fair.”  A rep for NBC denied he made the comment.

Meanwhile, reported Tuesday that NBC approached Anderson Cooper about replacing Matt Lauer on Today, but that may not be completely true. NBC did confirm they talked to Cooper but not necessarily about replacing Lauer. But sources tell TMZ Lauer is actually on board with the idea of Cooper taking over Today somewhere down the line, and actually planned to meet with the CNN anchor to discuss it. Regardless, sources say Cooper is not interested in the Today gig, and NBC insists they are not replacing Lauer. Said a network spokesperson, “As we’ve said before, Matt Lauer is the best in the business. We want him in the Today show anchor chair for many years to come. We are not considering replacing Matt Lauer.”
